Four inches of new snow fell this morning… This winter will never end… Figured before I go out and shovel a nice hot breakfast would be in order…

Pancakes from scratch with flour ground on our grain mill and fresh homemade maple syrup… Hard to beat that…

Here’s the recipe I used :

1 Cup Hard white wheat flour
1/2 Cup Hard red wheat flour
3 1/2 teaspoons baking powder
3/4 teaspoon salt
1 tablespoon white sugar
1 1/4 cups milk
1 egg
3 tablespoons butter, melted

The instructions are pretty simple… combine all the dry ingredients then add the milk then egg and lastly butter.

I’m looking at making a mix I can leave at the cabin for long term storage. I am planning on subbing powered eggs, milks and butter and storing a double batch in mylar. Then it would be a just add water mix. Just need to figure out the proportions and cost per package. I’m hoping I can make it cheaper then bisquick.

The maple syrup used this week of course comes from our DIY cinder block evaporator… If you have not been following our maple syrup videos on youtube you can see them all here :

Now off to shovel…
