Cabin work took a back seat this week… my oldest had her first communion yesterday… busy busy busy

On friday I did pick up a new (to me) chain saw for the cabin… A 1993 Sachs Dolmar 116si… this is a much bigger saw then the homelite and poulan chainsaws we have been using… still looking for one more pro level saw but probably a little smaller… something around 40cc’s…

Today I took off late (slept in after a busy day yesterday) and took the oldest down to the cabin to drop off the carb I rebuilt for the international, take a look at the gas tank and try out the saw…

First I drained some gas out of the tank through a clear hose… gas looked good… but even with the sediment bowl all the was open it seemed like gas was flowing slow… but I am not really sure how fast it should be coming out… I was using a 1/2 inch hose and it probably filled up 6 inches in a minute… I am going to pull the bowl and check for and clogs… I brought one of the high power flash lights and checked the gas tank out…. looked pretty ugly… going to pull it clean it and seal it…

After that I wanted to try out the new saw.. we had a 15 inch poplar trunk down from a couple of weeks ago… tried that first… cut like butter…

Then I moved the big boy….a just under 2 foot poplar… again strong cutting saw… but after working with this saw limbing I am thinking a smaller saw has it’s virtues… may arms we sore at the end of the day…

one issue on the saw was if I tipped the saw over (bar side down) to re-fuel some gas was coming out the carb…. I have not taken a look at it closely…

Also I am looking for a owners manual download so if anyone knows where to find the Sachs Dolmar 116si owners manual please email me…

Other then that a couple of nature walks (saw a snapping turtle in the reservoir, and herd a Tom gobble really close to the cabin) were had and checkers were played… not to much longer and the oldest gets assistant duties out in the woods… for now that last picture on the couch will do 🙂

No video this week… just a couple of pics…
